A lot of my stuff has stories associated with them. This Achacha tree needs a bit more heat but I ended up picking it up from Champa Nursery east of Los Angeles before it went out of business. By that point it was cash only. #gardening

I have a number of olives in pots, but also that dreaded olive fly that ruins every fruit. My plan is dwarf trees and cover with fine netting. Always interested in varieties with unique flavors or big sizes, so feel free to offer recommendations. #gardening

Heart of Flame (Bromelia balansae) survives here. Its also sharp. The fruit smelled of papaya, but tasted like more acidic pineapple but wasnt totally ripe. First pic is my plant. Second is of fruit in Southern California. #gardening

Processed most of the Date Plums for seeds. The point in using these for rootstock is that the roots are fibrous, meaning grows good in pots/transplants well. Plus, it takes itself, American Persimmon, and most Kaki on it. #gardening

Harvesting the sunchokes. Will put them in better soil and take better care of them next year. I notice that some have rot where the stem dies back. Maybe a California issue since die back happens when winter rains start. #gardening

To do: need to root purple sugar cane. Thinking I will need to cut it up and root it indoors. Too cold now outside. #gardening

Chinese Yam/Wild Nagaimo (Dioscorea polystachya). Grew these in a large cup. The original root rotted away but made these
I'll put them in a real pot and see if they get some size on them/more yams. This one might be cold hardy for me. #gardening

I have difficulty getting Malanga root to sprout. Maybe they get an inhibitor on them during grocery store shipping, but if they sprout, they seem somewhat cold resistant as long as no frost formation. Don't remember if these are lila or blanco variety. Hardier then taro. #gardening
