I love that one of my favourite authors in her brilliant novel L'Œuvre au Noir (The Abyss) refers in her notes at the back of her book to another of my favourite novels by Aldous Huxley (The Devils of Loudun). The Huxley was of course adapted fabulously by Ken Russell for his 1971 film.
