Interesting tidbit: Exploring this area, I discovered that adjacent to this scene is a part of Boothbay called “Sprucewold,”featuring a sprawling recreational attraction begun in the 20s filled with dozens of log cabins now mostly in disrepair. A real throwback to family trips in the Griswald wagon.

A behind-the-scenes story. When I shot this reference photo up on the hill at Head Tide Church, it was mid-winter and very dry. I leaned on a decrepit split rail fence to get the shot and it crumbled under me. So technically I accidentally vandalized a church. Again.

There’s a saying that every good painting starts with a good underpainting. In my world, every good painting starts with a secret Mordor 😆 The alleged data sales from my local, community bank (that began in 1875) to Meta was the final push towards migration from the wealth monopoly.
