Talking about Africa, photography, and storytelling—with my framed canvas prints setting the scene behind me. Honoured to be invited by Lionstudiosframing to judge the local print exhibition. So much talent and heart from our local photographers. Moments like these remind me why we do what we do.
Another reminder that passion fuels the soul. The wind, the water, and the freedom I live for.
Chasing wind. Finding peace! ☺️

Did you know bushfire smoke can paint sunsets like this?🔥
Shot this at Anna Bay just before the sun dipped—fiery skies made even more dramatic by smoke in the atmosphere.
While fires bring loss, they also leave a trace of beauty that reminds us of nature’s power.

The first shot captures the raw drama of lightning in timeless black and white, pure energy stripped to its essence.

The second reveals the storm’s full fury in colour, glowing with electric blues and purples across the sky.

Which version pulls you in more?

Amazing sunset down the road last night
I was working in my studio when my daughter came running in, and said "daddy, look outside at the sunset!"
I peeked out the window, almost fell off my chair, scrambled around to find my camera body and rushed down to the beach.

Right as the sun began to dip at Myall Lakes, these wattlebirds put on a show — one mid-flight, the other mid-chat. The timing, the silhouette, the glow... it all came together in a single breathless moment.

What’s the last photo you took that told your story?

This 2017 image captures a fleeting moment—two red cars meeting on a bridge at low tide, suspended above exposed sandbanks.
From the ground, this moment would pass unnoticed. From the air, it becomes a study of symmetry, contrast, and timing—where movement briefly aligns with stillness.

Captured on a new moon night while camping with my wife—pure peace. The 30s, f/2.8, ISO 3200, 24mm. I angled upward to frame the clear sky, mountain peak, and campfire. Manual focus and ISO testing nailed it!

What’s your favourite stargazing memory? Could you share it with me?

A delicate mushroom glistens with morning dew atop vibrant green moss, creating a serene and magical forest scene. Nature's tiny marvel, often overlooked, plays a vital role as a decomposer, nourishing the ecosystem.

Why revisit last year’s images?
Because our photos tell the story of our growth. Looking back shows what worked, what improved, and where we’re headed next. Growth leaves clues—and our strongest frames guide the way.

In this photo, a donkey stands in sharp focus, dressed in colourful harnesses. I just realised what others overlook, the lens uncovers quiet beauty that gently shapes our lives in ways we seldom notice.

If a lens could reveal what your eyes skip, what would it show?

This vision has lived in my mind since June. With Macca as the star, I used a single light for his workshop, light painting for the shed and waited 90 minutes to capture the perfect moonlit sky.

That friend who shows up, no questions asked, just to support your crazy ideas. Who is yours?

My first macro lens, a vintage macro, backyard challenge 🐝
It’s not easy capturing them when they’re so quick, and the autofocus lags! Shot at f/8, 1/500, ISO 1000 on a 100mm lens.

Do you remember your very first photography challenge?
What subject did you choose when you started your journey?

Seeing a creature so close to extinction in such raw beauty is rare. This white rhino, photographed in Sabi Sands during my 2022 BootCamp Safari, is one of my favourite moments. I waited for it to step into the light, and patience paid off—creating this powerful monochrome shot.

Moments like these are best enjoyed with good company, don’t you agree?

How much beauty hides on the forest floor?
An hour of rearranging, cropping, and tweaking led to this tiny world of wonder. Each mushroom has unique textures, colours, and quiet charm. Sometimes, the smallest details hold the biggest magic.

I stood here for a while listening, feeling, breathing.
Both scenes taught me something: peace isn’t the absence of movement… It’s the rhythm of nature itself. ☺️

What catches your eye first, the rusty chain or the sunburst peeking through?

I stopped by Bellingen at sunset to capture these old iron objects at the Old Butter Factory. Using my 35mm macro lens, I explored different compositions, and this one stood out because of the light.

I visited the Cathedral area and it happened to capture the stunning beauty of Cathedral Pines, where old pine trees were saved from being cut down in 1900. I was amazed by the beautiful light shining through the trees, creating a magical starburst effect.
