#ChatGPT suggested I read a recent article written by colleagues on #ImplementationScience - it sounded legit but was totally made up.

So far, AI is a super helpful tool but far from a substitute. I like to think of it that way instead of “the computers are coming for us” #StaySkeptical.

Too easy 4 #families to fall through the cracks in #BehavioralHealth care. Just getting to the right #therapy door is hard—staying long enough to heal is harder.

Tara Shuman & I wrote on this in a new #CBT book - The bigger Q about access: how do #psychologists make the right thing the easy thing?

It's clear this instability is also impacting young people in #California. I'm looking forward to connecting w/ #psychologists Sept at #CPA2025 in Long Beach. Drs. Kathy Williams, @drdrea.bsky.social, Kelsey Dickson & I will open a dialogue at our session: Young People In Crisis

MEET, a treatment engagement intervention, helped bridge the gap between treatment settings in San Diego County. Participants were nearly 2x as likely to connect to next-step in SUD care.

Thinking about #BigCitizenship after hearing an interview with @mariashriver.bsky.social

Here’s my idea:

A new holiday, Community Day - volunteer/service projects in the am. Potluck in your neighborhood/with your community in the pm.

Gonna try & get some folks on board for a test run.

Feeling proud—our new study on improving care transitions in SUD treatment coming soon. Real-world results from the MEET intervention show meaningful impact on continuity of care. More to come!

A growth mindset can both reduce & increase prejudice toward people in stigmatized groups (e.g., obesity, addiction, mental illness). Intriguing model & recommendations for both an individual & contextual intervention approach. #PsychSciSky #AcademicSky #EduSky journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

I’m not sure if it’s wisdom or intelligence but it’s definitely part of growth, wellbeing & thriving.
A sign of wisdom is choosing not to believe everything you think. A mark of emotional intelligence is choosing not to internalize everything you feel.

Thoughts and emotions are possibilities to ponder, not facts to accept. We don’t always invite them in, but we decide whether they deserve to stay.

San Diego lost a hero today. Eloise Battle fought to preserve Tecolote Canyon for our community. It exists as an open space because of her courage and determination. I will always be grateful to her and will constantly try to learn from her example ♥️

It’s pretty well-known picture book reading benefits a child’s language development & future academic success but did you know it can also:

- ↑ emotional regulation (Schoppmann et al., 2023)

- ↑ parental warmth & sensitivity (Canfield et al., 2020)

- ↓ parental stress (Canfield et al., 2020)

#Opposititis is part of the 58th Annual San Diego Local Author Showcase. San Diego Public Library has been super supportive of local authors. 🙌🏻

I want to actually be the person who watches what’s in my Netflix queue. Maybe someday.
