Trump falsely claims the U.S. “subsidizes” Canada by $200B (made-up). In reality, the 2023 trade deficit was ~$30B, mostly from cheap Canadian oil that benefits U.S. consumers. That’s not a subsidy — it’s a mutually beneficial trade deal. 📊 www.census.gov/foreign-trad...

My meeting with the Council on Canada-U.S. Relations was focused on keeping Canada’s economy strong in the face of unjust tariffs.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

Canada and Europe are strong, reliable partners. In a shifting global economy, that matters more than ever. We’re ready to secure new transatlantic business opportunities together.
