Clearly Trump is a black and white thinker when it comes to Liberation Day logic.

A report from the Canada Chamber of Commerce puts Guelph 6/41 in cities 100k+ on the Tariff Exposure Index at 24% #TEI. Guelph's $11.8m GDP with $6m+ in exports to the US; over $33k per capita.

Q: Is there space to shift the minimum $66,900 in Development Charges for infrastructure in current capacity to further eliminate DCs?
A: Vaughn and Mississauga are trying to determine. Conversation will likely happen here, but fees on new home building should be at provincial level.

A: yes. Some is embedded in provincial legislation that the mayor was in favour of passing.

A: difficult to assess, but as historically Guelph may fall in line with higher rates of similar municipalities.

A: 6.9% Historically low, can be a double-edged sword when seeking skilled workers, and is important to continue to diversify.

The Mayor’s 2025 Budget took the city tax levy from 7.16% to 3.66% during 2024. Final tax levy 6.78% down from 10.51%. Mayor plans to use Strong Mayor powers again in 2025 to “have a conversation” before being “required by law” to enact Strong Mayor powers surrounding budget.

The mayor celebrates the 68 supportive housing beds at Norfolk Manor, the 32 supportive units at 10 Shelldale Cres, 29 new LTC beds, with 28 transitional beds at 65 Delhi opening soon, and the UoG building 1500 on-campus beds by 2029.

The Mayor speaks of the $21.4 Housing Accelerator Fund to construct 739 housing units by 2026 focused on policy to process to results. 2024 focused on shifting policy, and Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan comes to council Feb 11th
