I have the most boring advice...get out of high interest debt and put money in your retirement plans (401k etc), and if possible some side investing in index funds. Even smallish amounts will be large due to compound interest over a few decades time.

Don't defend this pardon, it's bad. We can police ourselves, and hold 'our' people to a higher standard because its the right thing to do, even if its not something the 'other guys' are doing.

Dems that claim Biden's polls "aren't that bad" are really bad at understanding where you need to be and where you have been in the recent past as a Dem. The electoral college is a lead weight, and you need to be ~3% ahead to win as a Dem, Biden's ~3 behind, and the man looks old AF. Move aside!

And unfortunately some well-meaning people fall for it, thinking not voting would work the same way as boycotting a business.

TikTok being owned and used as propaganda and a spy tool by China is bad. And yes that is MUCH worse than Musk/Zuck which can come under gov sanctions if needed. Its very very frustrating to see people not understand this.

This is exactly what I was talking about the other day. If the sites general response to someone like MattY is to call him a facist (the guy is def to the left of Biden on most things), you both don't know what that word means, and have no hope of actually ousting X/Twitter.
2nd Q: Is the limit to Bluesky's potential influence not its current size (it will keep growing) but rather the breadth of acceptable views that can be exchanged here? Consider the replies to every post by @mattyglesias.bsky.social.

I was looking to join this site as alternative to X/Twitter so that Musk wasn't in charge and making bad decisions. It seems a lot of people over here want this just to the opposite of Truth social, if thats the idea, then well this site will never grow or be very useful for me.
