This is one of those moves where being a sports fan isn't always about rooting for the move that makes the most financial/personnel/etc. sense. As an EWU alum, this is something I've wanted for 8 years and I don't care how it had to happen.

I like that they're not shying away from it, though! They easily could've created a story that avoids New Vegas and the intense criticism that will follow (no matter if it's well-received or not), but they're taking on the challenge and trying to deliver the best show they can.

Not necessarily advocating for all of these moves, but they could sign Santana/Turner at 1B, trade for Brendan Donovan at 2B and trade for Alec Bohm at 3B and that would round up to $18-20M -- not accounting for any MLB guys (and their salaries) that might be going back in those trades.
