everything is the worst but I did just tell my middle schoolers that I ended my presentation on the budget fight with "don't worry, chat, we're not cooked yet" and they're sooo mad, it's great

At risk of repeating myself: The Luddites weren’t against technology. They were against getting put out of work by a technology that did a version of their job faster but worse, in the service of increasing profits for their bosses.

What's new with me? 2024 has been a bit of a bust. Back in March I dislocated my left knee - somebody who should've knew better attempted a pointlessly dangerous move on me at BJJ and it went wrong. I'm walking around under my own steam now but I've spent about 5 of the last 8 months on crutches.

I've been in read-only mode on social media for the last year-ish. I've still been reading Twitter out of habit. Lurked Mastodon but it never had the critical mass to supplant Twitter. Perhaps Bluesky will be different. Today feels like a good day to replace the Twitter app with this on my phone.
