I'm in the strangest position with the Hollow Knight fandom right now. I have pretty significant beef with the way some fan stories have been writing Lace and Hornet, but can't say anything because, y'know, I've written much worse and will continue to.

The consensus around Silksong that its a game that HATES you made by people who want you to SUFFER is so fucking weird, man. Silksong has its friction points and mean pranks on the player, but it ultimately wants you to have fun, and it wants you to succeed.

People get all surprised when I write SFW, which I sort of understand cause I have a reputation as being "the fuck up guy." But at the same time, I think most of my stuff has been a mix of plot and NSFW all the way back since Impure Love - some stories just tilt more in one direction than the other.

Catching up on The Discourse and some people are super overexaggerating how hostile and difficult Silksong is. I've seen people saying the game *wants* you to hate it, which is crazy. Some people got killed by a trapped bench once and started acting like they were playing Drakengard or Pathologic.

Alright, with Silksong coming out in a few days I wanted to give y'all a heads up that when the game drops I'm gonna vanish from being online for a week or two. I appreciate all the kind comments and messages you guys give me - but until I finish the game I won't be reading any of them.

People are right to pick up on how hollow-feeling chapter 3 of Deltarune is, but I'm surprised at how few players have stopped to ask why it's been designed that way.
Yeah, some of it is, by the devs own admission, developmental issues. But so much of the jank and uneasiness reads as intentional.
