Carex meadii is a very widespread, if understated sedge of the tallgrass prairies. Widespreading and shorter than the surrounding grasses, it is easy to miss.

The rich purple of silvery scurfpea (Pediomelum argophyllum) is hardly noticeable compared to the silver foliage in person. They are beautiful from a bee’s eye view.
