They're pretty slow on the uptake then because the US has been engaging in highly destructive, evil and immoral acts around the world for at least 7 decades.

The collective mental health damage of active shooter drills in schools across the US absolutely horrifies me. In 15-20 years time what will that damage look like? Glad I don't have to live with it, or send children out to school in that. Heart goes out to those who have to.
Actually, it's pretty nice living in a place where getting shot isn't something that most people have to worry about. Swapping free access to guns for only having one mass shooting every couple of decades and our kids not having to do active shooter drills in school seems like a good deal to us.

Great article. Hoping Mamdani's team can navigate this to bring down costs of child care/early education. The benefits of good quality early education is lifelong and an investment in the future individually and as a society. Many eyes will be on this.
Universal child care in NYC won't be easy. But it's possible, practical, and could give the United States a desperately-needed blueprint.

All the Trump crumb maidens (Bondi, Gabbard, Mace, Leavitt et al) think that if they go hard as rascists, LGBT phobes,they themselves will be spared. They forget the beginning of DEI initiatives started with increasing women's representation. They will be eviscerated by dumb white men. Hard lesson.

Totally agree. We are heading that way - fast. No taxation without representation. I would add, no representation without education. The states is much bigger and for them to burn off a large percentage of voters over 50 years or so, still leaves a lot of people to run the place. Not forever.
So admire David Brooks writing in The Atlantic. His latest piece : "HOW THE IVY LEAGUE BROKE AMERICA" is masterful.
His recipe for a more equitable society is one Australia would do well to heed, given our walled-off private school system, the gutting of TAFE etc.

Totally agree. We are heading that way - fast. No taxation without representation. I would add, no representation without education. The states is much bigger and for them to burn off a large percentage of voters over 50 years or so, still leaves a lot of people to run the place. Not forever.
