Why Did I Read? I really liked Julie's other contemporary romance Forget Me Not and this dark romance sounding super intriguing. Now -- I do feel like I need to address the elephant in the room, the elephant being that a large portion of the book community is trying to boycott Julie and this book. Here are my thoughts regarding that: 1) Sure, this book may have started as a Dramione fanfic but so many books start out as some sort of fanfic.

Why Did I Read? This book was originally titled Medievally Blonde, and was marketed as a medieval Legally Blonde retelling. Legally Blonde is an all time favorite movie so I was sold! Due to what I assume are legal reasons, the book has been retitled as The Princess Knight. My Thoughts: Well things got off to a rocky start when I was inundated with a lot of names: of people, countries, entities, regions, all in the first 5-10% of the book.

Why did I read? This YA fantasy touts a magical competition, elemental magic and compares it to Shadow and Bone -- of course I was so there. My thoughts: Unfortunately, this one wasn't quite the winner I wanted it to be. I'm not sure if I disliked this more because I was also reading ANOTHER YA book where there was a competition and two princes and this was the inferior of the two...

Why Did I Read? It's Abby Jimenez! Of course I was going to read it! My Thoughts: I think I would describe this book as being pulled into two wonderful people's lives and then being swept along on their love story. Abby has a way with words and a way of creating characters and situations that are so real. I won't soon forget Xavier and Samantha and I don't want to.

Why Did I Read? I really enjoyed Alwyn Hamilton's Rebel of the Sands (and never finished the series, I really need to get on that) and when I heard about her latest, I knew I had to read it! Magical trials and family shenanigans - yes, please! My Thoughts: The Notorious Virtues has a fascinating premise. Long ago, the Holtzfall family, with the aid of a magical being in the forest, carved out a safe spot for themselves in the forest.

Well, I started 2025 off with a bang with an anterior tibia stress fracture diagnosis in January so February is known as the month of crutches. I was in a boot and "protected weight bearing" with crutches for 5 total weeks and let me tell ya... when you're on crutches, it's not simply that you lose use of the leg. It's like you also lose use of your arms because you're using said arms for crutches and are unable to do the simplest tasks.

Oh, hi! Has it been literally years since I've posted on this blog? Have I also been paying for hosting this entire time because something in me just couldn't let go?
