💙📚 Book 49 of 2025: The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ii can't pinpoint why I didn't like this one as much as A House with Good Bones, but something left me unsatisfied with it. Still enjoyed it though, one more to go!

T2 Green Bone Saga Secured 🥳 my Broken Binding collection keeps growing!

💙📚 Book 48 of 2025: We Solve Murders by Richard Osman

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very similar to Thursday Murder Club in style, but think I preferred TMC overall. Still very good though! Looking forward to TMC5 later this year.

💙📚 Book 47 of 2025: First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bought on @becadreads.bsky.social's recommendation (admittedly months ago) and didn't disappoint. Great pacing and twists, thought the flashback elements really fleshed out the story as well as the main character.

STILL WAITING
Need Page & Wick to start announcing some matching sequels soon.

💙📚 Book 46 of 2025: A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Had to squeeze in a horror read for October, found that much easier to read after a very in-depth fantasy. Taking a few paperbacks with me for a week away next but will do the other two accompanying Evernight editions on my return!

💙📚 Book 45 of 2025: The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Elite, top tier fantasy. Brilliant characters, great setting, wonderfully built world, just a genuine 10/10. Go read it. Need to pick up the sequels in the new year.

I'm still alive! I'm still reading The Lies of Locke Lamora (100% the longest its taken me to read a 5⭐️, its honestly elite), here's two new books I bought to prove I'm still going!

New All Time Low album is putting in big work for AOTY contention
October 21, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Super slow reading it because WORK but The Lies of Locke Lamora has started amazingly and I can't for Saturday so I can try and put a solid session in with it.

Also hi, it's been a little while, I'm dreadful at checking in on this app.

💙📚 Book 44 of 2025: Three Shattered Souls by Mai Corland

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Have to say, I don't think I enjoyed it as much as the first two, but I think that's just life's fault for being busy and taking ages to read it as a result 😅 fun end to the series nonetheless, keen to see what Mai writes next!

💙📚 Book 43 of 2025: Blood of Hercules by Jasmine Mas

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Had fun with this, I liked a lot of the world ideas more than the plot itself, so hoping the sequel (which I'll now have to get on with buying) picks up more of the bits I enjoyed from this one.

💙📚 Belated August Wrap Up

Some good picks this month, Sam Holland continues to be brilliantly twisted and Evernight stepped up eith Bat Eater, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Book 42 of 2025: Murder Mindfully by Karsten Dusse

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Absolutely loved this and it genuinely had some good tips (on mindfulness not murder). I don't know if there's a sequel planned - or already released - but I'd love there to be more. Great as a self-contained story though.

Gonna go big on series for 2026 and knock some big dents in the TBR.

- Farseer
- Empire of the Vampire
- Throne of Glass
- Bone Season
- Indian Lake
- Aelfyn Archives
- Between Earth and Sky

And then we'll see what fits in between! Definitely gonna need some crime in there 😅

Who would have ever guessed that I didn't end up sticking to the plan?

Pre-emptive September plan!

- Finish whichever of my two paperbacks I choose on holiday
- Maybe the other one time dependent
- Blood of Hercules before the sequel releases
- Three Shattered Souls
- Let's say The Martian again
July Reading Round Up 📚💙

Severely slowed by Clytemnestra (RIP daily streak in the 60s) but a great five star read this month.

August Plan I Won't Stick To:
- More Sam Holland
- The Martian
- At least one of the (I think) 10 books i have due this month 😅
- Maybe finally The Library Trilogy

💙📚 Book 41 of 2025: Bat Eater by Kylie Lee Baker

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enjoyed this one a lot! Pandemic literature seems very hit or miss depending on the approach but thought it really helped set the tone for this whilst exploring a very real problem that stemmed from it.
August 29, 2025 at 5:09 PM
💙📚 Book 40 of 2025: Alchemy and a Cup of Tea by Rebecca Thorne

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Definitely enjoyed the start of the series more than the end, but a fun read nonetheless.

Also means my reading goal.for the year is done with 4 months spare! 🥳

What authors do I need to be checking out in 2026, #Booksky?
All suggestions welcome; fantasy, crime, romantasy, sci-fi, thriller, contemporary, point me at all the good stuff that I may have missed on my radar.
August 20, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Wife and I have gone to see Weapons and Together the last few weeks.

Thought Weapons was ace, the tonal whiplash for the last ten minutes was incredible though.

Together was also great but nope nope nope hate body horror stuff.

Probably The Running Man because Glen Powell rules/is really hot.

Belated update, the ticket gods shined upon me and I'm going to Wembley my dudes.
Pray for me as I fight the masses for MCR tickets tomorrow.

💙📚 Book 39 of 2025: The Guest List by Lucy Foley

⭐️⭐️

Had a free trial of BookBeat and this one was on my list anyway so gave it a go as an audiobook, found it super dull. Don't know if it was the narrator choices or if audiobooks just aren't for me full stop, but I think I'll stick to paper 😅
