I wonder if sentence diagramming could be started earlier. I used to love doing it when I was a kid. It made sense of where a word should be to me. And it made it fun because it "looked" like something, like a tree skeleton for words.

1. Adding highly trained master teachers
2. Providing specialized instruction by dividing the class
3. Adding the science of reading to the literacy curriculum

Cool info! The love for reading better carry on: the older readers get, large print soon becomes microscopic font. 😄

Wisconsin’s efforts to implement the science of reading are at risk as $49M in approved funding remains tied up in political gridlock.
“Act 20 is just a piece of paper until it is fully implemented,” says TRL WI President Jeanne Schopf.

C'mon parents, mooove your kids! Read at least 10 minutes a day. But that's only half of it--the best part is talking about it with your child. Who's your favorite character? What's the best illustration? There's tons of questions!

Great article on reading fluency and its effect on children's literacy. Does FWISD's literacy tests and programs, with their emphasis on reading passages rather than whole books, hinder reading fluency?
