There are many things I strongly disagree with Rand Paul on. Hell, I ran against him. That said, he is right to push back on Mitch McConnell’s effort to ban hemp products. It would crush farmers and small businesses in Kentucky and across the country. We should all stand and oppose it.

This morning, I am thinking about the veterans who courageously served our country, but now live on the streets. The veterans on SNAP and Medicaid who are scrapping to survive. Those suffering deep pain and trauma, but don’t get the help they need.

UPDATE: The news of relief is short lived, as Trump is now appealing to the Supreme Court to block the order requiring his administration to follow the law and fund SNAP. The lengths they are going to leave Americans hungry is wild. Absolutely heinous.

Good news, family! The USDA has confirmed that SNAP benefits will be fully funded for November. This came after a federal judge rejected the Trump admin’s plan to offer partial funds for food aid. Food should never be a negotiating tool, and I am glad to see the USDA work to comply with court order.

Hey Kentucky, I heard a lot of you tried to get out to vote yesterday. Although we don’t have elections yet, I understand how you feel. We are determined and fired up for the change we need to see, and we know it can’t wait.

Family, we knew this would happen. There can be no surprise that a lawless president would refuse to follow the law. Donald announced today that he will defy the courts and refuse to pay SNAP benefits during the government shutdown.

When I look at my girls. I remember why I fight. On a day when so many children are using their imaginations to become their favorite character, a cute unicorn, bunny, or the King of Pop, my hope is that we can all find it in ourselves to do everything we can to protect their dreams for the future.

Trump and the USDA know very well why the funds exist, and that they were appropriated for a time such as this. The cruelty isn’t a bug, it’s a main feature.

In July of last year, Sonya Massey called 911 because she was afraid of a possible intruder. When law enforcement arrived, they treated her like the threat instead of the person who asked them for help. Afraid, she called out on the name of Jesus. The deputy then shot her.
