Here’s to hoping……
As a lifelong Dodgers fan, it’s been a tough year to support them. From the White House visit to asking Nezza not to sing the national anthem in Spanish to removing fans with anti-ice signs from games. But denying ice access today renewed some hope they’ll do right by their fans & LA.
Let’s see.
Dodgers to announce plans to assist immigrant communities affected by ICE raids in Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Dodgers will announce on Thursday plans to assist immigrant communities impacted by the recent ICE raids in Los Angeles.

Yes indeed …. masterful, erudite yet an easy read …. It is not necessary to be a student of French lit or a scholar of any kind to appreciate Zombie Proust
One of my favourite books of the year. A great book from @lesfugitivespress.bsky.social The balance of personal enthusiasm, biographical detail and litcrit was masterful. A model - i’d place it alongside Penman’s Satie from @fitzcarraldoeds.bsky.social

At Istros Books seasonal shindig, Ludovic Bruckstein’s son spoke about how his father’s novellas capture the subtle, insidious rise of totalitarianism & prejudice in ordinary lives, shattering harmonious living between communities. An illuminating read in our age of increasingly ‘normalised’ cruelty

For sure! Give our brains and eyes a rest and get connected like we once did back in the day! Leaving yr phone (with its chips ‘n’ systems) at home means tracking is not possible 😉 Tho a specialised bag can block all wireless signals (cellular, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) from reaching your phone am told
@amandahoover.bsky.social in @businessinsider.com:

“Getting offline is the new social currency.”

Able to ditch email, switch to a flip phone, and log off the apps? Must be nice 💅

It shouldn’t be a luxury to have meaningful connection and peace of mind.
How going offline became the new luxury
Going phone-free has become "the biggest investment you can do and the most luxurious thing you can do." Social connection apps are cashing in.
