I cried so much today dealing with the heartbreaking reality that right now might just not be the right time to add a dog to our household no matter how badly I want. Done entirely too much crying over the last two weeks; I need a gods damned break for a bit.

I'm more and more sure that Eva's going to be happier in a home that has some other Dachsunds/small dogs to play with and a bit of a more unified schedule, but I'll be damned if I let her go back to foster without some glamour shots for her postings.

This little dog charges up so fast. Took a nap with us on the couch for Post dinner tv, followed that up with a 45 minute walk, 20 minutes of play, and chewing away on a kong as I type.

As the end of our second full day with Eva comes to a close, with her using the bathroom outside more successfully and having some great play sessions, I'm starting to calm down and re-center on the fact that none of this has to be perfect. It just has to be full of love.

We aren't totally solid on her name yet but this timid lil pup is officially under trial adoption! Gonna be seeing how she opens up over the next two weeks and make sure we're a good home for her.

The idea that I personally (not my partner or roommate) am getting ready to adopt my first dog has uncovered so many intense emotions between anxiety, excitement, and worry about how things will go.
