If a UI element is interactive, exposed to AT, needs event listeners, needs role/aria customisation, and needs programmatic focus. It should be in HTML. It's frustrating this is a conversation that even needs to be had.

Cuanto antes entendamos que la responsabilidad de crear productos digitales accesibles no pertenece solamente a desarrollador(e|a){1}s (si no a todo el equipo: PMs, diseñador(e|a){1}s UX/UI, CTOs, ingenier(o|a){1}s de QA, CEOs, ...), antes empezaremos a crearlos.

Once @steady5063.bsky.social said that saying #accessibility is an "enhancement" to web or mobile content is like saying flour is an enhancement for a cake or cookies. Accessibility is always part of the recipe to make web and mobile content usable and accessible for everyone

The W3C just published the WCAG 2.2, including nine new success criteria improving accessibility for people with visual, physical, and cognitive disabilities.

Be familiar with them because they are the new accessibility compliance standard.
