“None of us can be free until all of us are free.” Maya Angelou
This Fox broadcast of the Indiana/Ohio State football game gets my vote as the absolute worst audio mix I’ve heard all season.

As Trump continues to destroy our relationships with our Central and South American neighbors, he’s stupidly playing into the hands of the Chinese government. They’ve dreamed of mining South American rare earths and building military bases on the continent. Like a buffoon, Trump is making it easier.

The San Francisco Giants are awful, pathetic. None of them can hit the baseball (which is the point of the game, yes?) and right now their pitchers are throwing batting practice for the Padres who are now up 7 - 0. Okay, I’ll try to calm down now and change the channel.

The Friday night combination of chocolate cake and red wine is magical.

On this trip, hotels are forced to try something new. Instead of offering breakfasts using fresh eggs, they’re heating processed egg dishes from the freezer. Not very appealing or healthy. I went with yogurt and fruit instead.

At the Sacramento airport waiting to board my flight east. The couple sitting across from me at the gate nodded hello and after pleasantries got serious, said they’re Canadian and asked, “What the hell happened to your country? Everything is so weird now”. I said, “Strap in. Gonna get weirder”.

The big winner in this dispute is China who for years has been trying to create partnerships in South America and drive wedges between the US and its longtime Latin American allies. Sooner or later US alienation will lead to Chinese military bases in this hemisphere.
Trump Hits Colombia With Tariffs in Feud Over Military Deportation Flights
Gustavo Petro said on X that the United States should not treat Colombian migrants as criminals and that he had already turned away U.S. military flights carrying deportees.

ESPN desperately mining evidence that Ryan Day is among the greatest college football coaches of all time. Sorry guys, it does not compute. You should look it up.

Had to wake up Lucy, my dog. Trying to watch the ND vs PSU College Football Playoff game but she was snoring so loud she drowned out the announcers. Actually, the background noise is louder than the announcers. Someone please wake up the audio booth.

For the first time in 33 years, I’m not a subscriber to the Washington Post. For the ownership and management of that once-august newspaper, “Democracy Dies In Darkness” should be more than a slogan. When it is, I’ll be back.

The choice of SMU over Alabama for CFP was a bitter pill. As a Crimson Tide fan was interested to see how the Mustangs perform in their first round game vs Penn State. So far, it’s going as we expected.

At least Bama is represented in the SMU/Penn State game by the referee, former QB David Smith.

So immensely proud of my friend and former colleague Clarissa Ward for her fearless, exhaustive reporting from Syria. As she does, Clarissa is shining lights into the darkest, most dangerous places on the planet to find truth. If you watch CNN, check her out.

No Aaron, he was doing his Ricky Ricardo impersonation.
Was he having a medical event while typing this?

Great to see Al Michaels has re-upped for another season of TNF. He was calling the 1989 World Series in SF for ABC Sports when an earthquake interrupted. Al effortlessly went from calling sports to reporting news. He won the Breaking News Emmy that year and the admiration of all of us at ABC News.

Reporters sitting around a studio table offering their options to a vacuous “host” is not journalism. Why not use the time to visit or phone your sources so you can, you know, report real news.

Everyone who wears a US Military uniform to work everyday is probably a better, stronger person of higher moral character than Pete Hegseth and they know it. Imagine how diminished they’ll feel if he’s approved to become their boss.
“As an American, I also hope that he is not confirmed to oversee our armed forces—not because his drinking makes him a bad person, but because, if it’s as bad as the reports suggest, it’s an unconscionable liability for a position as important as this one.”

Agreed. Cheering a murder is indefensible. However, there is legitimate anger over an American health care system that’s stacked against the consumer. Among the guilty parties: the federal government which makes the rules and the CEOs who shovel money to the election campaigns of the rule makers.

No one should expect Trump’s mass deportations to be orderly and peaceful. In California where Latinos are 40% of the population, many of them are planning to defend their extended families who are here illegally while state government is planning to defend the defenders. Could get ugly quickly.
