1980's The Octagon was one of the pre-Cannon Films Chuck Norris movies that got played a ton on cable back in the early 80s and helped make Norris a star so that Cannon would go after him for the movies he would really be known best for in the later part of the decade.

Probably best known for the work put into the gore effects by the great Tom Savini, The Prowler does have that striking visage of the killer dressed in WWII styled fatigues reliving a decades-old murder of a couple.

1981's The Burning is one of the very best of the early 80s camp slasher flicks. It's not so much reliant on Friday the 13th but got release thanks to that movie. It stands all on its own with some really great scenes of terror and some good performances.

1981's The Burning is one of the very best of the early 80s camp slasher flicks. It's not so much reliant on Friday the 13th but got release thanks to that movie. It stands all on its own with some really great scenes of terror and some good performances.
