Not a horror book, but love to learn about other cultures. “Cook Like Your Ancestors” by @mariahrosemarie.bsky.social is a great way to try new foods or learn about your roots. #dreamersbingo2026

“Sugar and Other Stories” by @joysan.bsky.social is a creepy collection of horror stories and a great way to start my #DreamersBingo2026 card.

I’ve never been to the Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Church before. The Ivy Bookshop set up a pop-up shop inside the church. It was absolutely gorgeous and I hope they have another pop-up shop there again.

What would you do if you ran into somebody who bullied you in your teenage years? What would you do if that same person wanted to meet up with you? @connerhabib.bsky.social wrote “Hawk Mountain” with this exact scenario in mind!

Had a wonderful meetup between @bmore_horror_bookclub and DC Horror Bookclub at Ragamuffins in Laurel, MD. Here’s to a great year of reading!

Not all powers are for good. Reading “Athanasia” created by @danielkraus.com, Dani, Brad Simpson, and Jim Campbell. A little bit of “The Boys”, “Brightburn”, and “The Substance” together.

I read this book in a day. “Your Time is Done Now” chronicles trials and executions of Maroon people in Dominica. Polly Pattullo compiles the absolute terror that befell enslaved Africans during a time of “due process” trials during the early 1800s.

Saw this novelization of Silent Night Deadly Night by @armandomunoz.bsky.social. I remember being so scared of the VHS cover of this movie when I was a kid. Who says the holidays are over?

I’m bringing it back old school. “Crime and Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoevsky chronicles a horrible murder and the emotions that follow it. One of my first experiences with Russian literature almost 20 years ago.

Swapping spooky stories with @baltimorekrampus.bsky.social at Papi’s Tacos in Fells Point, MD was a fun experience. Winter is the best time for ghostly happenings!

For all the holiday horror of this month, I’m happy to see Chanukkah represented with a crime fiction book “Eight Very Bad Nights” edited by @todgoldberg.bsky.social. Maybe there will soon be a Chanukkah horror anthology!

This was a fantastic Bookclub meet today. A lot of varying opinions for “Ghost Story” by Peter Straub and a good turnout. Following that was @bmorehorrorclub.bsky.social Horror Trivia, which is always a blast. Now home watching the “Ghost Story” movie adaptation.
