In her first local interview since she was fired by President Trump as Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden speaks about the importance of expanding access, not cutting it off.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

In honor of the Library of Congress's current struggle and valiant fight and enduring value, I'll re-share some of the photos I took during my Kluge fellowship this spring:
Today I got to go up in the dome of the Library of Congress! We toured the masonry + carpentry shops, too, but I have to clear those photos before I share them :)

These spaces + the skilled folks who maintain them exemplify the persistent domains of *functionality* within the federal government!

Today @anosro.bsky.social gave me a 🌟 behind-the-scenes tour of the Conservation Division @ the Library of Congress, where they conserve daguerreotypes, repair 📘 bindings, mend tears, + build custom 📦 to keep everything safe. What a marvelous, skilled, dedicated team.

This is our government, too!
