got a bit carried away answering an anon about the recent wave of censorship hitting nsfw games and art, but i think i got my point across.
A screenshot of me answering an anonymous ask on tumblr. The ask says: "damn, y'all are big mad that rape simulator 3000 isn't available anymore". My response goes: i know that it must be really easy for you to sit behind anon and feel morally superior saying this, because the nature of the media that institutions are trying to ban is NSFW and kinky, thus making it "embarrassing" and difficult to defend. But the fact that it's easy to cast opposition in a light that presents them all as "degenerate" perverts and therefore incentivises people to take warning voices less seriously is something worth examining. Sex workers have always been canaries in the coal mine for encroaching fascism and puritanism because "protecting the kids" is a slogan that is, on paper, impossible to oppose, but always ALWAYS is the start of a slippery slope of censorship that grows to include sexual liberation, queer existence, queer joy, and transparency in queer medical help. My response continues:Banning content purely because it's obscene has always been a dangerous sentiment because noone has the same parameters of what's appropriate. Trans people just existing is obscene to some. That doesn't make them more morally correct when they bang their drums for trans representation to be eradicated. You bring up "rape simulator 3000" as evidence that we need limitations on NSFW media. Okay. So what did you say when Mouthwashing was banned, a game that explicitly depicted sexual assault in the context of male accountability, and moved thousands of people online? Is all art depicting anything unsavoury, no matter the intention, destined to be stripped from the internet? Are the SA victims who deal with their trauma and reclaim their bodies through SA roleplay worthy of shame and derision for not doing it in a sanitised way you approve of? Are you truly prepared to let your government, wherever you live, decide what is suitable for you to come across online? How far would you be willing to take that? Are governments allowed to disrupt BDSM forums? Are websites educating people about appropriate knifeplay or CNC set to be wiped off the face of the earth? Or have you, in a desire to cater your own online experience, become someone who arrogantly orders for the table without asking what everyone wants to eat?

I have finally fully and accurately explained my problem with how it’s marketed and used.

And now, you can use it, too.
Generative Al is being marketed as a tool designed to reduce or eliminate the need for developed, cognitive skillsets. It uses the work of others to simulate human output, except that it lacks grasp of nuance, contains grievous errors, and ultimately serves the goal of human beings being neurologically weaker due to the promise of the machine being better equipped than the humans using it would ever exert the effort to be. The people that use generative Al for art have no interest in being an artist; they simply want product to consume and forget about when the next piece of product goes by their eyes. The people that use generative Al to make music have no interest in being a musician; they simply want a machine to make them something to listen to until they get bored and want the machine to make some other disposable slop for them to pass the time with. The people that use generative Al to write things for them have no interest in writing. The people that use generative Al to find factoids have no interest in actual facts. The people that use generative Al to socialize have no interest in actual socialization. In every case, they've handed over the cognitive load of developing a necessary, creative human skillset to a machine that promises to ease the sweat equity cost of struggle. Using generative Al is like asking a machine to lift weights on your behalf and then calling yourself a bodybuilder when it's done with the reps. You build nothing in terms of muscle, you are not stronger, you are not faster, you are not in better shape. You're just deluding yourself while experiencing a slow decline due to self-inflicted atrophy.
