(Aside: Ugh. This is probably the least pleasant thing we have ever had to write. We're incredibly sad it went this way, and sorry to have to post it.)

Re-realizing how much I absolutely hate Oculus (Meta Quest?) crap. My Quest 2 barely works. Meanwhile, my original pre-launch edition Vive works totally fine and doesn't need adware to work. Did I mention I haven't turned the sucker on in five years?

Apparently, NOAA discontinued their XYZ-format map tiling API. This kicked off me learning how to use "opengeo.ncep.noaa.gov", which then spiraled into me making a "proxy" that converts standard XYZ tile requests into WMS requests: github.com/blockarchite...

Random reminder to test your smoke alarms 🙃
Randomly decided to check today, turns out they are from 2013 😬

Had to get a new myQ-connected garage door opener, conveniently incompatible with those generic ZWave opener things. Less than an hour later:

I wonder how difficult it is to hack in my transit card to Google Wallet. Surely it's not that difficult 🙂

All new HVAC technicians should be forced to watch a @techconnectify.bsky.social video.

That is all 🙂

Upgrading to 12th Gen Intel! Currently on a i7-10700. Found a great deal on a 12700KF I couldn't pass up.

Problem: GPU 😁
I think I'll stick with my Quadro P2000 for now. Was eyeing a 9070 XT, but it's darn near impossible to find one at retail (or in stock!)

I give up! Home Assistant just hates me.

Third time's the charm 🙄
I must have bad luck, because I have never gotten Home Assistant to last longer than three months. HA would be perfect if it didn't randomly break itself! 😅

Trying to figure out how to run LLMs locally without being completely terrible.
Problem: I am neither NVIDIA nor own a datacenter, and also do not want to consume the same amount of electricity as 16 single-family American homes every day.

Anybody know how to do this efficiently?

It rained in Phoenix today, which is super cool, however I did hope for a little lightning albeit I know that basically isn't possible here 🙃
Reminds me of the storms back home.

Do people still use repository patterns? I personally like them, but I struggle to see many projects following the pattern anymore. If this is/isn't you - why or why not? Just curious 🙂
