This was from our camping trip to Dinner Island Ranch last spring, where we were blessed with fog both mornings. I was in heaven!

Finally building a website that folks can actually look at, had to go back and re-export (and re-edit some) images to remove my old watermark (yuk). Of course as per usual, I found some images I hadn't noticed before, this was one. From the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, in Coral Gables, FL.

Haven't posted much lately. Been in a bit of a photographic rut. But, went to a Wildlife Management Area this weekend with the camera club. Great time and awesome conditions, albeit a bit toasty at 95F (35C). 🥵 These bright storm clouds screamed for black & white. Thanks for looking!

Went out for an after-work sunset last weekend. My friend and I decided to chase the prescribed burn and see what's happening there. It didn't disappoint. These burns are an important part of resource management in the Everglades to reduce hazardous fuel and maintain fire adapted ecosystems.

Here's the wide view of this beautiful waterfall. Even though I was in the middle of nowhere Vancouver Island, I was not alone. I had 2 friends that ventured up the mountain to get a closer vantage spot. One is shown here. Instead, I chose to put on my 100-400 lens lol

A few vignettes of a waterfall off some logging road in the middle of nowhere, Vancouver Island. Middle of nowhere is exactly where I wanted to be. Next will be a grand view. Fun part is finding the zoomed in bits.

Vancouver Island isn't just mossy green trees, oh no! Mountains too! First image is of Hidden Peak taken at Kennedy Lake near Ucluelet, second is of Mount Arrowsmith taken from Little Mountain in Parksville.

One of my stops on my Vancouver Island trip was to the MacMillan Provincial Park, aka Cathedral Grove. Its an old growth forest known for humongous trees! I arrived early as this place fills up fast. Its smak-dab in the middle of the highly travelled Nanaimo-Tofino route. Its a total fairlyland!

I escaped the east coast for one night. I met up with Adam and Brian briefly at an out of the way falls, then made my way to Ucluelet. Next day I went into Tofino before returning. I stopped at Long Beach and watched the surfers. Tofino reminded me a little bit of Key West, and not in a good way.

I had seen this city park on a map, but it was in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Last thing I needed was a trespassing arrest in a foreign country, so I never attempted to visit. That was until one night after having dinner with Adam, he showed me around some of his local local spots.

My home base was in Parksville as it was central to the places I wanted to see. On my way back from an outing, I was in awe of all the cherry blossom trees in people's yards. The first image was from a neighborhood estuary trail, and the second was taken from the Community Park entrance.

Another from Englishman River Falls PP, this one a bit up-river from the big falls. I had seen these trees in an old video, but took some doing to finally find them. I spent the better part of the afternoon exploring this little alcove of shoreline and gnarly roots.

Englishman River Falls PP, where everyone is WOWED by the power of the upper falls that drops literally under your feet. But walk a bit further and magic is just waiting. This isn't "old growth", but they weren't clear cut, so some trees here might be ancient. All I know, they are beautiful!

Had a nice 10-day trip to Vancouver Island, and then paid the price with a nasty cold for the past 2-weeks. Thought it was about time I shared some of my images.
Here are some beautiful Pacific (or Western) Trillium. From Englishman River Falls PP and Rosewall Creek PP. So delicate!

A touch of spring.
"Gonna be a bright sunshiny day!"
Loved the way the light was dancing across the prairie; it was nothing short of spectacular! Beautiful cypress prairies of the Everglades with the @sfnpcc.bsky.social as the sun was hitting its peak.

While the rest of the @sfnpcc.bsky.social club were shooting the big orange ball rising I turned opposite and shot these beautiful cypress trees being kissed by the light. What a glorious morning it was.

Another photo from last weekend's sunrise shoot with the @sfnpcc.bsky.social
As the sun rose it cast a warm glow over the sawgrass and tickled the tree branches. With a slight breeze blowing, Everglades mornings don't get much better than this.

What a gorgeous morning in the Everglades with some of my friends from @sfnpcc.bsky.social for our sunrise / moonset photo trip.
Sunrise did not disappoint. Moonset was a bit lackluster. I think we were a day late. But a lovely peaceful morning, nonetheless.

Wanted to share a great opportunity to give to park rangers who’ve been fired. Eric Bennett and 9 others have joined forces to do a print sale with 100% of the proceeds going to park rangers. It’s for a forest cause. Click here to purchase.

Our last stop for the morning was Mahogany Hammock. So beautiful, but quite messy. My Ps AI removal tool was working overtime with this! lol

Then the sun peeked thru the clouds, and I went to the Z tree (really, it's an "N"). Being in the middle of the dry season, the water was way low so getting a little closer than I normally do was quite easy. Such a cool tree especially since it's easy to see from the road. #everglades #saveourparks

After Mrs. Owl took her leave, we moseyed down the road and stopped at this culvert opening where many beautiful cypress trees were covered in bromeliads and cardinal air plants. I just love those little cardinal plants!

Then I spotted this delicate leafy vine, all covered in dew. No idea what it is, probably will never know, and that's ok!
