Every time I read about Anthony Joshua’s friends who passed, especially Latz, my heart swells. There’s something about the way their stories, actions and words are held, remembered, and honoured that hits so deeply.

Jay-Z, Rihanna and Beyonce are three of the five billionaire musicians. None of them came from pre-existing wealth. All three are interconnected in their rise and behaviours. All three creatively used and worked their craft. Their grandparents would not have been allowed near this status.

I did not attend any of today's public menorah lightings or parties today. Police presence can feel uncomfortable due to the lack of cultural awareness about the existence of Black Jews.

Even in the shadow of the Sydney attack, Hanukkah calls us to light with joy. Its candles remind us to celebrate resilience, hope, and the power of freedom. Darkness cannot extinguish every individual light (you) that forms the collective gladness.
