Listen to my latest Active Outdoors podcast with Land's End to John O'Groats walker Jo Page.

I headed up to Berriedale to record the podcast and support Jo as she entered her last week of walking the 1100-mile+ journey for PSC Support UK and Scottish Mountain Rescue.

Here's my latest podcast from Active Outdoors - a conversation recorded while cycling one of the routes from Markus Stitz's new book, Gravel Rides Cairngorms and Perthshire from Vertebrate Publishing.

It's always interesting to hear from Markus and share in his enthusiasm for all things bike 🚵‍♂️ 🤩

What a week it's been! One of the highlights was being on the other side of the microphone/camera while being interviewed by Partnerships for Wellbeing about active travel and commuting by bike in Inverness.🚴‍♂️

It was lovely to meet Marie and Jeff and I'm looking forward to seeing the final edit 🎬

🚵‍♂️ A great little mountain bike route from Inverness to Dores, mostly on the South Loch Ness Trail (but with an extra offroad section for the steep descent to the village) then back via Lochs Ness & Dochfour and the River Ness.

Rode into the sunset then the setting of the beautiful crescent moon🌙🤩

Great morning at Inverness Royal Academy for the opening of the new mountain bike trail. It's looks fantastic and was being enjoyed by so many people, from wee kids on balance bikes to oldies like me 🚵‍♂️🤣

A big well done to Jane Chisholm. 👏🚵‍♂️🌳

Still going through some of my photos from the 2025 Strathpuffer, but here are a few I like for starters 📷.

These were taken in between my own laps as part of a quad team 🚵‍♂️🥶

More to follow!

Incredible endurance. Even more amazing considering the conditions.

Respect to @bl6john.bsky.social & everyone else who took part in the #strathpuffer

It's here! The #ActiveOutdoors event list for 2025 - a not-quite-comprehensive but not a bad effort to correlate loads of amazing runs, cycles, duathlons and random extreme challenges happening mostly around the Highlands and Moray.

Fine run with the JogScotland crew on the trails above Inverness tonight. Just a wisp of cloud hanging over the town, with Mars (on the left) and Jupiter (just out of shot!) visible in the clear sky.

So tonight, I was leading my small (but perfectly formed) running group along the dark trails of Inverness, when an owl flew out of a bush, right past my face.

I felt the air move on my cheek it was that close! Then I watched it gracefully glide away in the light of my head torch. Magical. 🦉

A random pic from a couple of years ago. This was a cool trip to Loch Ossian. Did the three munros there over a couple of days - got soaked and had no views at all from the tops!
