In my opinion, the only way we can ever “clean the swamp” is by caring more about the character of the politician than his policy. No person without high morals will ever clean the swamp, they will just shape it in their own image instead.

Is it better to have a decent human being in office that might disagree with you on some of these policies than a person who has done horrible things, but gives you what you want by way of policy? Does empathy and goodness in a leader matter?

Is policy more important than character?

This whole Trump situation has lead to some difficult conversations and considerations for many people. If somebody gives you two or three policies that you are passionate about, but is a terrible person, should you vote for them?
