I love to catch insects in flight as close to macro as possible, come with me and I’ll show you how.
Release the energy
Don’t know what type of fly this is but it didn’t hang about for long 🤣

Still can’t believe how good a bridge camera the Sony RX10IV was and still is. Well done Sony but a mkV is long overdue 👌🏿

Not bedfellows
Meet the Weevil Wolf Wasp (try saying that drunk lol), carrying a weevil likely for its larvae like other digger wasps. I’ve never seen one burrow, mainly because I’m always looking for flight shots. Nikon Z9 and Z 105mm macro SS1/2000 F8 ISO4000

Taking a trip down memory lane with this 5-year-old photo! It's crazy how much my photography focus has shifted from birds to insects. But, I'm feeling inspired to mix things up in 2026 and capture incredible shots of all creatures in motion, no matter the temperature! Nikon D850 and Sigma 500mm F4

What do you see in the mouth? I think it's a ball of nectar, but the angle and details aren't perfect for a detailed view, showcasing the fascinating yet challenging world of high-speed photography, where a split second can make all the difference. Canon R5 and Sigma 150mm. SS1/3200 F9 ISO3200.

I don’t really do any snow pics so a little white fur will have to do 🤣

Teleconverted
I still need to test out the 2x teleconveter on my new OM 50-200mm is pro lens but definitely the 1.4x tele is very usable and just adds to the flexibility of this lens.

Jump around
Can anyone identify this digger wasp species? It has a distinctive method of carrying its prey with its hind legs and flies in brief, erratic bursts, making photography tough.

Protection packet
This isn't the tongue of the hairy footed flower bee it is actually protection for the bee's delicate tongue which like other bees is usually folded back during flight until it arrives at flowers.

Love the legs on these Pantaloon bees. Most people think they are massive pollen sacks but they are in fact double use legs for burrowing and collecting extra pollen.
