Hello all, hope you all good? Having a fantastic time in Scotland, views totally mind blowing, tonnes of animals, birding tough and 1 moth in one trap 😂 too many highlights to say, seeing a flat tire in the snow this morning and looking up 5 minutes later and seeing a golden eagle flying by

Only managed 2 angle shades in the trap this year, very nice to see a caterpillar yesterday. Also managed to get the nut leave blister and nut tree pigmy mines in the garden. 2 Decembers and w-p on the door when I got home too #teammoth

Off to bony old Scotland for a week in exactly 48:15:25 hours (not that I’m counting down or anything!) heading to the highlands. Big big big big question is it going to be really worth taking the trap? We are on Th e slightly warmer west side near Skye #teammoth

Due to a family celebration of my daughters 21st, trap never went out to 10pm last night, mainly cause I had a chesty on the wall 😆 ended up with 3/3, feathered thorn and nfm sprawler, number wise rubbish but never less 😀

Didn’t trap last night mainly cause I couldn’t be arsed, might be out tonight though 🤷‍♂️ a couple of leaf mines in the garden yesterday while clearing leaves, London midget on London plane and large beech midget on beech, why do some moths have such contradictory names 🤷‍♂️ #teammoth

This Bill has been a shambles from the start. Rushed, re-written, and risking the nature it claimed to value.

We need a government that sticks to its promises.

We need a planning system that works for people and for wildlife.

Peers: today is your chance to put it right. 📢

After the moths I headed belatedly to fishlake meadows in search of the white tailed eagle and yellow-browed warbler, 50m in Merlin popped up a redpoll, managed to find it nfy, moved on another 50m and a couple of young ladies pointed out the WTE purely stunning!! Kept walking a bit further

What a morning! Best nights sleep in weeks led me to a bird robbed trap, even still it was a pretty good trap! 13/7. Best had to be a very battered, worn out pink barred sallow nfy, next the winter moth nfy, beaded chestnut and white point made up the numbers #teammoths

The wogan has been avoided….. let’s see what the night brings……. #teammoth

Disappointed with this so called storm! Apart from a bit of wind and not that strong here, had no rain certainly not 40mph winds 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ programmed me work day around it all as well 😂

Put up a sign on a gate yesterday morning, in the late afternoon a rosy footman appeared on it 🤷‍♂️ not seen one for months! #teammoth

Unbelievable ok these spring bulbs are leafed up by Christmas most years, flowering in mid feb but to see them up this tall in October 😱😱😱

I’m trying to reorganise my house after I’ve got the kitchen back… so um I’m a bit slow at sorting moths out at the moment, however 22sp last night a couple of different nov moth forms and a feathered thorn are nfm. L wainscot and Blair’s still about, 1 brimstone, white-point 26 #teammoth
October 15, 2025 at 1:38 PM
Much better last night with 69/21 2nfm satellite and Blair’s shoulder knot 2nd large wainscot of the year, 2 4-spot thingys, cracking long-horned flat-body, light emerald and 17 lunars #teammoth
October 14, 2025 at 8:51 PM
Well trapped for 3 nights, we won’t talk about numbers…. White-point had the highest numbers but nfy The ‘Merv’, red-line and yellow-line quakers and winter grounding. I’m trying tonight but really just hoping for something new, 29 moths from 4 traps ain’t good 😔

Warning gruesome tale! Visited @wwtworldwide.bsky.social Slimbridge yesterday, lucky enough to see a sparrowhawk feeding on a feral pigeon, a young heron came down and scared off s/hawk, started to peck at the pigeon that had half its back gone, it then tried to fly away as unbelievably it was still

On the positive side, it wasn’t as crap last night as the night before, my 3/3 comfortably beats 2/2, none inside the trap, all outside it, red-green carpet and green-crescent brindle best out of the 3 with a lunar making up the numbers 😆 #teammoth

Moth pics are lacking like the moths tbh. However in yesterdays sunshine, I noticed the front of the main house looked odd, close up inspection revealed ladybirds and thousands of them! The house is 3 storey tall and all different forms, incredible #ladybirds
