At Stanford University researching biochar
Coal isn’t likely to come back, but with this executive order, perhaps we can build more biochar plants in areas formerly know for mining jobs so we can have biochar “coal” without the occupational hazards of mining abcnews.go.com/US/coal-resu...
How Trump's executive order on coal could impact energy use in the US
President Donald Trump's quest to conduct a resurgence of coal production and utilization in the U.S. is farfetched and unlikely, according to energy experts.

This study found much more pyrogenic carbon (not biochar but often compared to biochar due to some similarities) remains in a grassland than litter carbon. Pyrogenic carbon persisted more as particulate organic matter than mineral-associated organic matter. Thoughts?

Is there a US-based commercial or academic lab I can send biochar samples to for random reflectance (inertinite) measurements?

All I have found so far is Fusinite, a commercial lab located in the UK.

TIL I learned the term perennial optimist and am in love. I am often overwhelmed in my environmental career by the global challenges from climate change to pollution, the perseverance to continue in the field anyways seems to suit “perennial optimist” well
