Joey Barton, a professional arsehole, gets a twelve weeks suspended sentence for kicking his wife in the head whilst drunk. This sends out all the wrong signals. The bastard should be jail!

Whatever your views about individuals getting honours, there is a bigger issue to consider. Most honours still refer to the erstwhile British Empire. If we must have these things, can’t we at least change the description and acknowledge that we are in a post colonial country, Northern Ireland aside.

A thought on farming! In the debate about inheritance tax I’ve heard no discussion of what farmers receive from the taxpayer, i.e. you and me. Subsidies are now at about £3bn p.a.
Who are the main beneficiaries?
That’s right, the huge estates that are owned by the already very wealthy.

I joined Bluesky many months ago but did nothing with it. Yesterday I started my engagement here, followed over 1000 accounts and have already been followed back by almost 500. Good to see so many of my old acquaintances from the other place are shaping Bluesky into a positive and progressive space.
