In 1991, a bronze casting featured in 'Gallant Beasts and Monsters' show at Buschlen Mowatt Gallery was made into a functioning doorknob in master jeweler Toni Cavelti’s store. Today, the Nanasimgit Door with its iconic Bear Head knob is located on the main floor of the Gallery.

On a day often called #BlueMonday, we’re turning to blue as a colour of life, renewal, and resilience. 💙🐟

This work by @anuximana.bsky.social  reflects a powerful moment: witnessing nuxalk sputc returning upriver to spawn. A reminder that colour, like culture, carries memory across generations.

Born Jan 12, 1920, Bill Reid was a visionary Haida artist whose sculptures, jewelry, and prints reshaped how Northwest Coast art is seen worldwide. At the Bill Reid Gallery, we honour his legacy by celebrating living Indigenous artists and traditions he helped uplift.
