Just voted for Patches O'Houlihan for Canadian Horse of the year. I know Filo Di Arianna won a Grade I, but thought Patches' overall body of work was better with 4 stakes wins. Would love to see him run in U.S. next year.

From HISA report, HISA tracks are much safer than non-HISA tracks...During the 1st and second quarters of 2024, fatalities at racetracks in non-HISA states amounted to 2.38 racing-related fatalities per 1,000 starters That was more than triple the fatality rate at HISA regulated tracks.

The winning trainer of today's first at Aqueduct was Amelia Green. She had been working as an assistant to Pletcher before going out on her own. Off to a perfect start as the filly On Command was her first ever runner.
