We have lots of good ideas, says Dr. Oz, but we don't want to show our cards

Hey this is not a competittion

It is not an adversarial proceeding, either. It is a collaborative enterprise among representatives of the people, funded by taxes

In what world are such things conducted in secret?

Jerk.

The Democratic Senators did not cave.

They crafted a compromise that a GOP majority accepted.

It may not be the compromise you hoped for. I would have liked to see the ACA subsidies as robustly defended as SNAP.

But it was reasonable & prevented a lot of suffering.

This is how Congress works.

Less than a year before midterms, Senators will have to vote openly on a Dem-written bill to end the ACA subsidies

Make it clear to your Senators, regardless of party, that a down vote threatens their incumbencies, particularly if their term ends in '26

Call, write or email. Ball's in your court

Exactly right. Why should we respect a president who doesn’t respect the constitution he swore an oath to uphold?

Why telegraph what you're gonna do?

Because we're gonna pay for it, & you're gonna do it to US!

It's about us, you bastard, not you, & you have a responsibility to be open about your thinking every step of the way.

🚫👑🇺🇲
BARTIROMO: How do you want this to play out once the ACA subsidies expire?

DR OZ: We have lots of great ideas, but I don't want to show our cards. As the president often says, why would I telegraph to you what we're gonna do?

We need to put time limits on things like filling vacancies that occur in elective offices & swearing in duly elected officials.

In an honorable society such laws would not be necessary. In ours, they are badly needed.

This explains so much. It's a McConnell Maneuver. This ha become SOP since the Heritage Foundation took over.

Not so different from today, with our legion of Kardashians, Hulk Hogans, Ice-Ts, & even a reality TV President.
the 80s had a high density of celebrities whose authenticity was hard to figure out, as a kid. like, was Mr. T a real guy? he was like that in shows/movies but also in interviews? or pee wee, elvira, max headroom, various wrestlers. even alf was on celebrity squares. it was a confusing time.

We on the left talk as if we lived in a Jeffersonian representative democracy, when in fact we haven't had a democracy at all for two centuries.

Oligarchy? Yes, since parties took over. Plutocracy? We've flirted w/ that. Autocracy? We're headed there now.

Oddly, elections still count for something

Resilience is also being powerful & confident when you don't feel that way at all.
🔥🔥🔥 That’s IT. Many people think resilience is feeling powerful and confident when everything feels like it’s going to be okay. It’s not. Resilience is feeling powerful and confident, when…just a second before…you had a moment of “I’m done. I can’t do this any longer.” YOU understand that.

"Performative Gridlock" is the perfect descriptor for how govt works, or rather fails to work, in America today.
1/3🧵You’re not wrong to be furious…this does look like performative gridlock on both sides…and a part of me could easily agree with everything you said, believe me.

In Hamilton's America, big is beautiful. Big business, big labor, big parties, big ambition. Power is top down. People are devalued

Jeffersonian democracy is decentralized. Town-sized meetings w/o parties direct state & federal policy in turn. Power is bottom up. people are everything

Let's try it

Read this. Understand this. Do what needs to be done.
Trump and MAGA…that’s not what will “kill” us off.

If democracy dies…it will result from our own decision to commit “suicide.”

This is an example of the suicidal attitude I’m talking about.

Resilience is what determines whether democracy survives. Without that nothing else meaningful happens.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Explain to me again how this makes healthcare more affordable?
Trump: "I am recommending to Senate Republicans that the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars currently being sent to money sucking Insurance Companies in order to save the bad Healthcare provided by ObamaCare, BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE SO THAT THEY CAN PURCHASE THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, HEALTHCARE."
November 10, 2025 at 11:22 AM
The blue wave of the off-year elections sent a message to any GOP who are listening.

We are watching. Continuing down this cruel path to autocracy endangers your re-election at the upcoming midterms, & perhaps for decades to come.

We deserve, & demand, govt that represents us, not rules over us.
November 10, 2025 at 6:50 AM
Look. I don't agree with the Senators who voted for the CR, but I listened to their explanations & find them reasonable, This is how democracy works

The next step is to make it clear to Reps that voting against the ADA jeapordizes their re-election.

Only a couple of weeks to do this. Start now!

Right!

Where food, shelter, & healthcare are are human rights.

Where kids can go to school without fear of being shot or disappeared.

Where opportunity & the benefits of wealth are fairly distributed.

Where we truly believe that life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness are worth defending.

Republicans feel shame? That'll be a first
Agree.

Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.
