Psychopathic traits are associated with a substantially increased risk of schizophrenia
An analysis of hospital records combined with data from the Care Register for Health Care in Finland showed that individuals with high levels of psychopathic traits had a 9.3 times higher risk of developing schizophrenia compared to individuals with low levels of these traits. Individuals classified as psychopathic were 2.37 times more likely to develop schizophrenia compared to their non-psychopathic peers. The research was published in Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica. Why I joined the cult of creatine
Until a friend casually mentioned trying creatine this past spring, I hadn’t thought much about it — it was stuff I’d long associated with meatheads and a minor scandal involving my high school football team. Then, suddenly, it was everywhere, being talked up by every fitness influencer, mental health guru and powder peddler on the internet. This is how it usually goes with the wellness industry, that ever-growing multibillion-dollar complex of businesses pushing supplements, remedies and no small amount of snake oil to a health-obsessed swath of society. A vaguely medicinal-sounding powder, pill, or gummy shows up in your TikTok

Psychiatry’s Rightwing and Progressive Bigotries: How Each Enables the Megamachine
Psychiatry’s abysmal record has been acknowledged by the then National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) director in 2011 (“Whatever we’ve been doing for five decades, it ain’t working”), and again by the New York Times in 2021 (“Almost every measure of our collective mental health—rates of suicide, anxiety, depression . . . went the wrong direction, even as access to services expanded greatly”). Despite treatment outcome failure, psychiatry continues to grow in influence because it enables the social order—the megamachine—which in turn rewards psychiatry with status. What do I mean by the terms megamachine, rightwing bigotry, and progressive bigotry? The

Auckland University of Technology Associate Professor Dianne Wepa’s research found that mental health in the health workforce is influenced by how workplace cultures either promote or hinder psychological safety Mental health in the health workforce is shaped not only by registration processes but also by how everyday workplace cultures enable or undermine psychological safety. A different angle on recent discussions of regulatory barriers is to focus on “compassionate systems” that embed mental health support into the design of health services, rather than placing the responsibility solely on individual resilience. health+1 Reframing the problem Health workers across professions report high rates
