New Blog Post! Two new papers: How do powerful supermassive black holes impact upon molecular gas? blogs.ncl.ac.uk/astro-obs/20...

These structures are found along, and around the contours, which represent the radio emission. This reveals that the molecular gas is being entrained by expanding radio lobes. The bottom panels show CO emission-line profiles, extracted from the central regions of the galaxies. These show high velocity components, expected to be associated with outflowing gas.

Huge congrats to Newcastle Astro-Obs researcher Carola Zanoletti whose first paper is out on the arXiv today! Go read it here: arxiv.org/abs/2310.19871

In it she and her collaborators explore effects of 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity and constrain an untested area of its parameter space!
Present-day (z = 0) linear matter power spectrum for small-α 4DEGB model. The middle (solid black) curve is the power spectrum for a ΛCDM model. The dotted (green) and dash-double dotted (gray) curves show the ΛCDM+Neff model with Neff = 5.46 and 0.62 respectively.
