Hello. I’m CEO of Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) in the UK; Chair Bristol Old Vic Theatre; Chair People’s History Museum; Chair London and South East Regional Board of the National Trust; 🏳️‍🌈 EU OBE culture ambassador and wanderer.
We’ll be publishing our @alva_uk members 2024 visitor figures at midnight. The numbers always get a huge amount of publicity as they are a barometer of the health & growth of #UKtourism, reveal the leisure preferences of domestic & overseas visitors, & reveal regional variations

Brilliant day @BodiamCastleNT with fellow members of @southeastNT and @NTlovesLondon regional advisory group, visiting the beautiful castle and site, meeting with the team and hearing about ambitions and plans.

All of the cast of Richard II @_bridgetheatre were superb but #JonathanBailey brought a really fine, nuanced performance of incandescent rage, vanity, narcissism, divine entitlement and ruthlessness. #LetsDoLondon

Honoured to attend ALVA CEOs dinner @houseoflords.parliament.uk Monday.Tackling the clear and present danger that is facing our sector as well as getting motivated and inspired by my peers in the attraction, cultural and heritage world was wonderful. Thank you @bernarddonoghue.bsky.social

Two years ago this week this happened.

As you can see neither of us have aged over the decades. Not even a little bit.

Extraordinary to experience the sheer size and power of the #IguazuFalls - astonishing spectacle, noise and drenched from the spray.

Superb evening - #ChristmasAtKew beautifully and brilliantly lit immersive experience, showing off the gardens, trees and buildings, and telling the stories of the botanical collections, environmental projects and impacts. Gorgeously done and such a fun night.

We had a great turnout for our @alva_uk Heads of Finance forum yesterday, generously hosted by our partner @Farrer_Co. Really fascinating & thought provoking presentations from @AmexUK on consumer spending, @NonprofitAdvice on Gift Aid & @figurative_org on new financing models.

My thoughts and best wishes to all those working at visitor attractions today - making them safe for staff and visitors, closing them where necessary, dealing with refunds, rebooking and comms. It’s a stressful time & losing crucial income at this time of the year is very tough.

Hugely privileged this week to have dined at Row on 5 restaurant - part of Jason Atherton’s group - on their 2nd night. Utterly stunning tasting menu - 12 courses I think - some of the best dishes and subtle, nuanced, delicate flavours I have ever tasted. rowon5london.com

Brilliant @HarewoodHouse Christmas 🎄 experience preview tonight. Christmas ✔️ opulence ✔️ beautiful ✔️ gorgeousness ✔️ and then just look at how these paintings are brought alive - technological and artistic genius.

Went to see ‘Never let me go’ at the Bristol Old Vic last night 🎭

A beautiful adaptation of Ishiguro’s book, which left me thinking about ignorance, purpose, dignity and care.
