The wife of the White House deputy chief of staff yesterday.

Meanwhile, European leaders are busy cheering on the coup in Venezuela...

This is how power works. You push, realise there's little to no pushback, so you become emboldened and push some more.

If Trump thinks he can get what he wants in Colombia, Cuba, Brazil, Greenland etc through special military/spy ops, he'll do it.

Watch this. Watch again.

"This incredible thing last night... We have to do it again [in other countries]. We can do it again, too. Nobody can stop us."

All the European leaders banging on about Maduro being an illegitimate leader of Venezuela as Trump announces that he will now rule Venezuela 🤡🤡🤡
January 3, 2026 at 8:24 PM
Trump: "We are going to run the country...we are there now, we are going to stay until such time that a proper transition can take place...we are going to have our oil companies go in."

Brazen colonialism.

Kidnapping Maduro is a message to every head of state in Latin America: do what we demand or you too can disappear in the dead of night.

We are entering a post-liberal world where there is no longer any pretence about universality, 'rules-based order' etc. It's international gangsterism and the US is the biggest gangster of all of them.

I immediately think of the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. Bush said 'Mission accomplished', only for it to be just the start of years of guerrilla war...

Read the US National Security Strategy to understand why the US is attacking Venezuela: "restore American preeminence in the Western Hemisphere", "reassert and enforce the Monroe Doctrine", "deny non-Hemispheric competitors the ability to...control strategically vital assets"
January 3, 2026 at 9:23 AM
Presumably the clowns that decide on the Nobel peace prize are delighted to wake up to war in Venezuela 🤡

No blood for oil! No to United States' criminal war on Venezuela!

India's Gig Workers Strike for Dignity and Protection
Nationwide flash strike by 40,000 app-based delivery workers demands an end to exploitative algorithms and calls for a national policy to ensure fair wages, safety, and social security.

Getting intellectually prepared to eat the rich in 2026. Happy new year everyone.

The US is already at war with Venezuela. If you read the US national security strategy document you get the idea: the re-ignition of the Monroe Doctrine, where Latin America is firmly the US' 'backyard' again and Chinese influence is removed.

Europe is now in the stunning position of being the sole foreign funder of the Ukrainian army, while at the same time having absolutely no seat at the table in the negotiations over ending the war. Vassalage.
December 29, 2025 at 9:19 PM
The significance of the new US National Security Strategy, which makes dominating Europe economically and politically a key objective, is starting to dawn on people. Every election will be subject to overt and potentially covert influence by the US state.

The American ban on Europeans who want US Big Tech to be regulating in Europe is a shot across the bows to the EU. They are saying 'let our tech firms do as they please, or we'll destroy you'. Let's see if the EU will stand up to American gangsterism or not.

Final newsletter of the year looks ahead to the transposition of the Platform Work Directive in 2026.

In the context of an EU that is currently pursuing Big Tech-friendly deregulation, where does a worker-friendly regulation of platform work fit in?

UK risks going back 200 years, when piece work was widespread & workers had no rights.

Bogus self-employment in the gig economy has inspired other bad employers, knowing they too can cut their costs in the same way.

Meanwhile, Labour won't even move forward on a consultation...

Was great to talk to @parismarx.com about Europe's subservience to the US tech-industrial complex.

We have a wide ranging discussion on:

- Nexperia and the chip war
- the EU's deregulation agenda
- Risks of Uberisation
- The Platform Work Directive.

Europe is talking a lot about digital sovereignty. But the recent attempt to take over Nexperia shows the US is still calling the shots.

At the Warsaw Uprising Museum. This is a German soldier explaining what they did to put down the insurgency. Could be a quote from any number of IDF soldiers over the past 3 years but with "Palestinians" replacing "Poles". We are once again living in times of genocide.
