It is inappropriate for the U.S. flag to be flown at half staff for four days for a non-elected political figure like Charlie Kirk. Trump declared a half-staff flag for Pope Francis for only a half day.

In the event of the death of other officials or foreign dignitaries, the flag is to be displayed at half-staff according to Presidential instructions or orders, or in accordance with recognized customs or practices not inconsistent with law.”

I want to point out that only one-third of the country supported Trump, not one-half. More than a third of eligible voters failed to vote, for whatever reason. Failures in education, civic engagement, concern for each other have led to the current miserable state, which can probably be rectified.
