It is time to end the occupation of Minneapolis. I am horrified by the killing in Minnesota this morning. Based on what we’ve seen from the multiple witness videos, the victim was innocent and not a threat. The violence at the hands of ICE must stop.

Tonight I joined Utah’s Jewish community at the State Capitol to celebrate the lights of Chanukah. Utahns from many faiths and walks of life stood together, shoulder to shoulder, as a reminder that in our state, community is stronger than division and hope is stronger than fear.

I’m ready to continue my track record of getting things done for Utahns. During my public service, I’ve protected public lands, expanded access to child care and health care, and advanced protections for the LGBTQ community.
Re-sharing my post from 2011 when I fought gerrymandering as State Senator. We won fair boundaries with Prop 4. When the Legislature ignored it, we won in court. The Legislature has called a special session to buy more time to undo those wins. We’ve stopped this before. We’ll stop it again.

Protecting public lands is about preserving the natural wonders in every corner of the state, including right in our own backyards here in Salt Lake. As County Mayor, I worked to protect more than 1,700 acres in Yellow Fork, the largest open-space conservation project in county history.

One of my favorite things to do is get out and enjoy Utah’s public lands with my family. These lands are at the heart of who we are as Utahns, and we can’t allow them to be sold off to the highest bidder. When Bonanza Flat and Guardsman Pass were at risk of being carved up by development, I worked closely with former Park City Mayor Andy Beerman in the effort to protect them.
