Magistratuur in België heeft nu wel écht een imagoprobleem en weet niet of ik het onterecht vindt.

Inflation in the US is down in March. Why? Weren't tariffs going to push up inflation?

No. Trump has created a lot of uncertainty over the last couple of weeks/months which slows down hiring, investment. This is disinflationary.

Effectively a rate hike by increasing the risk premium.

US treasury yields going up at the same time as the USD is going down is a lot more concerning than stocks tanking.

That's emerging market type stuff: capital flight.

Seems more like the US is fighting its allies.
“There is only one thing worse than fighting with your allies, and that’s fighting without them.”

—Victor Hugo

We’re entering the “worse” phase.

Manufacturing has largely, and continues to, been automated. Any trade war with the goal to "bring back" manufacturing jobs will end in disappointment.

EU arms production is gaining steam, this is before the huge ReArm EU-fund.

We haven't seen the last of this yet.

What I think is especially wonderful about the oncoming EU fiscal stimulus is that it’ll transition nicely into the 2030’s where battery grid storage and renewable energy will have become more than competitive with fossil.

The secular trends are even more favourable than the short term boost.

If anyone needed more proof that culture doesn't matter much.. Catholics do better in NL, DE. Protestants do better taken as a whole. Northern regions outperform in BE, IT while Northern France is pretty poor.

Bad take, plenty of industries would be well-served by cheap and abundant energy and they are just as powerful. Big Tech and heavy industry to name a couple..
It would be helpful if more people understood renewable energy is actually an extremely disruptive technology and the reason monied interests are trying to make folks hate it is that they are the ones which will be disrupted.

Europe needs to do 3 things:

- Build: Grow our economy with more construction. It creates jobs and we have a shortage.
- Rearm: Do I really need to explain?
- Import: Help out our allies and buy stuff we need from them, even if we have to borrow a bit of money.

Europe should fill the gap and buy Canadian, Mexican and, yes, Chinese goods to save their economies.

Let's be an importweltmeister for a while.

As long as Europe is speaking in bold and muscular terms, we’re not serious.

We need to be humble, silent, and get to work.

We’re comparatively weak. And alone.
