'Rage bait' named Oxford word of the year 2025

Which, to me, is rage bait.

‘Insight on your offer’ emails from eBay are so patronising.
I sent a ridiculous, low-ball offer. End of. Sometimes it works etc.
No need to email with some pointers, you tools.

Imagine replacing three episodes of Cheers with as many of King Of Queens. Naughty, Channel 4. Naughty.

Ozzy gave the genre songs people could sing, not just riffs kids could try and play. His voice was so soulful.

Bad one about Ozzy. If only one of the news outlets would tell the story about how he bit the head off of a bat though.

Modern pop music is so homogenised etc. Have to ask, where are the next Clannad? Where’s the next Smokie? Where’s the next Paul Hardcastle? Sad.

Nothing like the internet going down to reflect on how much we rely on it.
I HATE that.

Nice try. Now get IN the oven.

Joking, obviously 🐑

Madonna’s vocals and energy were excellent here. Not polished or too
self-aware.

Really weird. We used to have a mantelpiece that looked just like Brian May’s guitar. #liveaid

Smith and Jones introducing Queen isn’t something people dwell on when talking about their Live Aid performance.

Dire Straits. Can taste the Brut from all the way here in the future. #liveaid

I made my peace with Dire Straits sometime back. All those dads can’t be wrong I guess. #liveaid

Wonder if The Smiths were considered for the Live Aid lineup? Doesn’t seem that much of a stretch looking back at the gig. U2 perhaps bridging the gap between them and Paul Young etc. #liveaid

Bono’s low centre of gravity means he could turn on a sixpence, even in those pixie boots. #liveaid

Watching Live Aid and have to hand it to the Beach Boys for putting up with Mike Love, who is the un-coolest guy on the planet.

What’s everybody wearing for Battle Of The Boyne day today?

Music streaming is here to stay, but the industry is crying out for a new platform. One with zero AI generated music m and not run by a war profiteering sociopath.

I’ll be honest, I wanted TOTP not Glastonbury coverage on BBC FOUR 👎

Amazon’s AI generated subtitles smashing it

Watched to a fair bit of toddler TV of late and these are some musical things I’ve noticed:
Happy Birthday is in 3/4.
Incy Wincy Spider doesn’t need a backbeat.
Auto-tuned kids voices are not cute or necessary. Creepy.

Keep hearing “we’ll hold them accountable” or “stand and say they’re wrong” being used in retaliation to whatever the administration is up to presently. That sort of rhetoric only works if the people you’re trying to hold accountable care for the same rules as you.
