🎥 Just interviewed Yale historian John Mack Faragher for Echoes of Exile! He brought deep insight, heart, and historical clarity to the story of the Acadian Exiles. It was truly powerful to witness. This is huge for the film. It’s all thanks to our donors. Please support if you can: bit.ly/3QY9fk1

⛵ 1755–1764 – Wanderers: After deportation, Acadians were outcasts, unwelcome everywhere. Many hid in the forests, living with the Mi’kmaq. Others kept moving, searching for home.🚶‍♂️ Exiled, rejected, invisible -- Acadians became ghosts in their own land.

In 1755, during Le Grand Dérangement, the British broke their promise and began deporting Acadians. Families were separated, homes destroyed, and many exiled, leaving the Acadians without a homeland. 💔 #LeGrandDérangement #NeverForget

⛪ 1713 – A People Without a Nation
The Treaty of Utrecht placed Acadians under British rule. By 1730, they swore loyalty to Britain but would not fight against the French or Mi’kmaq - a fragile neutrality that was temporary.

🎥 A Story That Won’t Be Forgotten

The Acadian story wasn’t in textbooks - I learned it from my mother. She made sure I knew my history. I’m making a documentary to share it with the world.

In 1605, French settlers built a home in Acadia, forming tight-knit communities and working alongside the Mi’kmaq. They weren’t just surviving - they were thriving. But history had other plans.

Oops! I mistakenly noted Rian Johnson as an Executive Producer backer—he actually supported us at the Ultimate Supporter level! We first collaborated on Brick, and two decades later, he continues to uplift indie filmmakers. Rian, your kindness is invaluable. Join us: buff.ly/9FAesCH #IndieFilm
