4) Then, three-quarters of the states—38 out of 50—would need to ratify it. Given the gravity of altering presidential accountability, such an effort would demand immense political consensus and would likely involve years of national debate. But still worth considering in next govt, no?

3) To establish a recall-like mechanism at the federal level, you’d need to amend the U.S. Constitution. Congress would have to propose an amendment, which requires a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate. Or two-thirds of state legislatures could call for a constitutional convention.

2) A recall in California starts with a petition. A group of citizens can initiate recall by filing a notice. They gather a required number of signatures within a set timeframe. Then a recall election is scheduled. Voters decide whether to remove the official and, if so, who should replace them.

1)In California & some other states, voters can petition to remove a governor (or other officials) before their term ends if enough signatures are gathered. I have been wondering why our federal government can't work this way in the face of corruption to hold elected officials accountable mid-term.

💯 Especially as funds are withheld from California from the federal government. Like the gerrymandering tit for tat, why can't we withhold State dollars unless federal dollars continue to flow?
