I redownloaded the INaturalist app today after taking a break and the update has transformed it into something totally unfamiliar and unintuitive for me. I used it pretty regularly for about 8 years and found previous updates pretty easy to navigate.

This column is about HB294, yet another bad energy bill in OH. I was most struck by this part: “Harrison County saw 853 million gallons of surface water withdrawn for fracking in 2023. That represents 78 percent of the total water usage in the county.”

The more you learn about this topic, the more terrifying it is. @buckeyeenviro.bsky.social is suing ODNR for permitting new wells under old, outdated rules. Ohioans shouldn’t have to wonder whether their drinking water is contaminated with radioactive materials and undisclosed toxic chemicals.
OHIO IS THE DUMPING GROUND. We have 232 active toxic fracking waste wells (PA has 16). Lawmakers passed laws so drillers don't even have to disclose the chemicals being pumped into our earth. It will NOT stay put. This is a public health time bomb.

The City of Youngstown took a stand and passed a moratorium on pyrolysis (plastic incineration greenwashed as “advanced recycling”) and they’re preparing to extend it for a second time, but SOBE still has an OEPA air pollution permit.

Write the OH EPA: "Rescind the pollution permit given to SOBE!"
