A gorse (Ulex europaeus) flower. As I understand it, the other two Ulex species found in the UK don't flower at this time of year, and that in U. europaeus the bracteoles (indicated) are ≥2x the width of the pedicel (in other species they are smaller). Let me know if I'm wrong! #wildflowerhour

Hurrah! It's #wildflowerhour again! 🌼 My second week participating and have managed to notch up #thewinter10 (better weather this week made finding flowers a little easier). Blown away by the beauty of the tiny blue stripy Speedwell flowers dotted in an inauspicious roadside verge.
