2021 Nicolas Faure Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Herbues

One of my last Faure bottles: so good & perfectly representing the cool vintage!

2020 Fixin by Dom. Berthaut-Gerbet

For fans of Pinot from the Côte de Nuits, here’s a tip: look up this village and this winemaker, and especially if you like wines from Gevrey-Chambertin 😁

Mid-week indulgence: 2021 Bernhard Huber Malterdinger Spätburgunder

For fans of Pinot, check this out: a wine that can stand up to many Village wines from the Côte de Nuits. This is seriously good, and a pleasure with food. Check out their higher wines too 😋

This 2023 Godello from Bierzo was delicious with tapas at Casa e Pepe here in #eindhoven. One more example of how good Spanish white wine can be!

With dinner at #goyvaerts in Eindhoven we had this stunning 2019 Riesling: star of the evening!

New arrivals day! We opened this 2022 Sancerre Côte de Marloup immediately, as I was very curious. This is seriously good wine! Last year I ordered their Menetou-Salon, but this is a step up, and more profound.

From one of my favorite wine makers, now above my pay grade: Domaine Duroché.

This 2018 Village-level is from a single vineyard and it is singing: what a stunning Bourgogne. It is so complex, with red fruit, spice and tertiary notes of tobacco.

Attention wine lovers: at least once you want to drink this special #beaujolais

Forget what you know about Beaujo: this is very different. A wine from a granite field in Morgon by this winemaker is not for immediate consumption and will surprise you, if you give it some years.

Last vacation bottle: 2021 Comando G 1er Rozas: high-altitude single-vineyard Garnacha/Grenache.

With some air, to get rid of reduction, this is a top food-friendly wine, with tannins, acidity and lovely red fruit. It keeps evolving in the glass, so I will keep my other bottles for a while.

Pernand-Vergelesses, at the foot of the Corton hill near Beaune: great place for sturdy reds and great whites. This is from one of the best vineyards for white, by one of the best local winemakers.

Lovely wine, quite perfumed and bold. Is clearly from a warm vintage.

Rosé time! From the makers of MiP a more luxury cuvée, made from Syrah and Grenache, with only minimal skin contact.

This is a fruity rosé, with sufficient backbone to make you want to taste more than a sip. Maybe the cooler 2024 vintage helped here? Still prefer Bandol rosé though…

Salade Niçoise, with home-grown lettuce, radish and watercress.

First dinner outside in 2025. Crazy for NL to be able to dine outside end April, in t-shirt and shorts…

And yes, the 2023 Laisse Tomber Gamay was lovely with the salad. 😁

Last of the winter leek. With potatoes this will become a lovely soup 😋

So, the entry-level Comando-G (2023 la Bruja) is really interesting, especially for a wine nerd.

This wine is light in color, quite reductive initially, needing a carafe. Then the red fruit comes through, and the well-behaved tannins. It goes lovely with food, even this young.

New arrivals: wines from Comando G. These are hard to find in NL, but Lobenberg from Germany delivered.

The ‘G’ is the grape Garnacha, or Grenache in French, from old vines at altitude, grown not far from Madrid.

I am really curious about these wines!

For a Burgundy fan it is fine to have leftovers, as these are generally fine one or two days later, if stored properly.

Both the 2021 Savigny-les-Beaune by Marthe Henry, open two days, and the 2022 Mâcon-Vergisson by Jaques Saumaize, opened yesterday, showing very well this evening.

Certainly worth a trip to Gent, Belgium, this altarpiece from 1432 by the van Eyk brothers in the St. Bavo Cathedral: absolutely magnificent!

This should been 6 bottles, but the UPS driver dropped the box…
This 2022 Foillard Morgon Côte de Py is worth seeking out. I think it needs more time to show its full potential, but it already is a lovely food-friendly glass.

Since early Jan 2025 I am no longer using Insta, so I am looking for fellow wine lovers here.

This 2020 Dauvissat Chablis La Forest was absolutely lovely. The warm vintage makes this wine resemble a top Côte de Beaune white, but no complaints from me 😁
